Not having a registered dentist and experiencing severe tooth ache I went on line and booked an appointment to see the dentist. Upon arrival I was booked in and saw a dentist for an initial evaluation of the tooth. Brief discussion about the course to go down which was extraction...

20 minutes the tooth was removed and an after care course was discussed . Overall a very good experience. The staff on site guided us in seeing we hadn’t been before. So yes would recommend them.

Great service! Was very local to myself . Was able to get an appt straight away. However I aas in agony and was kept waiting over 30 mins for the appt in the reception but suppose that comes with the nature of an emergency appt that the dentist doesn’t know how long the appt infront will take...

Once I was in the dental room it was very modern. Dan was a lovely friendly dentist.

What happens during an urgent dental care appointment?

The aim of emergency dental care is to identify the cause of your symptoms and provide relief as quickly as possible. Your visit begins with an emergency assessment focused on the tooth or area that is troubling you. Small X-rays may be taken if clinically appropriate to give a clearer picture of what is happening beneath the surface.

Once the dentist has confirmed the diagnosis, they will explain the findings in clear language and outline the options available. Where possible, treatment is provided on the same day to ease pain and stabilise the problem. In some cases further visits are needed, for example to complete a root canal or more complex work.

If you have an active infection, you may be prescribed antibiotics, and suitable pain relief may be recommended to help you stay comfortable between appointments. Your consultation fee covers the assessment and any small X-rays needed for diagnosis, and any additional treatment costs are discussed and agreed with you before treatment goes ahead.

Why choose Emerdency?

  • Patient first approach – we put our patients first, every time. When you book online with Emerdency or one of our partner clinics, you can be confident you will be treated with compassion and respect.
  • Transparency – we follow a clear fixed fee structure for emergency appointments. Consultation and treatment costs are explained before anything goes ahead, so there are no hidden surprises when you arrive.
  • Accessibility – find a dentist close to your home, your school or your work. Search by postcode, availability and other factors such as wheelchair accessibility.
  • Regulated dental care – emergency appointments take place in Care Quality Commission inspected practices with dental teams who are registered with the General Dental Council. Emerdency is also registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office for data protection, so your personal information is handled securely.

With many people not registered with a dentist or missing routine check ups, it is inevitable that some will face dental emergencies. Ignoring early warning signs often allows problems to become more painful and complex. At Emerdency we aim to offer a compassionate, understanding and judgement free space for patients to access affordable dental care in an emergency. When you are in pain, the last thing you need is to feel blamed for the situation. The focus of your emergency dental appointment is to address the problem in front of you. We can then discuss follow up care and how to reduce the chance of issues returning in the future.

FAQs

A dental emergency usually involves pain, swelling, bleeding or damage that needs prompt attention. Common examples include severe toothache, dental abscess, facial swelling, a broken or knocked out tooth, or a lost filling or crown that is causing discomfort. If you are worried, it is always safer to have the problem assessed.
Emergency appointment and treatment prices are fixed for the treatments listed on our website. These will be made clear before you book. If you need any additional treatment that is not stated on the website, the dentist will explain the options and costs before anything goes ahead, so you can decide what you are comfortable with.
Patients who usually see an NHS dentist are welcome to book. The emergency appointment is provided on a private basis and does not affect your NHS registration. You do not need to be registered with the practice or with Emerdency to be seen for urgent care, but payment is required for private dental treatment as this visit is not covered under the NHS.
Walk in appointments are not available. Our system shows live availability and, if an appointment is not confirmed, it can be booked by someone else while you are on your way to the practice. To avoid disappointment and to secure your time, booking online in advance is mandatory.
Many of our patients feel nervous or have had difficult experiences in the past. The dentist will take time to listen to your concerns, explain what is happening in clear, simple language and work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Where appropriate, options to help you feel more relaxed can also be discussed.
